Verse 1
I’ve got a “how’s it goin’” for every face I meet
While I’m draggin’ an anchor down a one-way street
My jaw stays locked so the truth don’t spill
Like a secret buried in a medicine pill
I’m a well-built house with a hollowed-out frame
Standin’ in the yard while the sky starts to change
And I smile like I’m fine when I’m anything but
Just tryin’ to hold it together when the world’s too much
Pre-Chorus
Sometimes I’m the ocean, sometimes I’m the salt
Sometimes I’m the ghost locked up in the vault
Prayin’ for a day this iron don’t feel so cold
Or weigh so heavy on my soul
Chorus
I’m fightin’ silent wars behind my eyesPatchin’ up the cracks in a cardboard disguise
Losing ground that nobody sees
Down on my luck and down on my knees
I hurt in ways that don’t have a name
Just a slow burn smoke with no way to tame
So I try to be the match that lights the night
’Cause a little bit of mercy can save a life tonight
Verse 2
There’s a ghost in the bottle, there’s a lie in the glass
I’m chasin’ down silence just to make it pass
Took a few things I shouldn’t just to kill the sound
Of a mind that won’t stop spinnin’ around
I’ve seen good men break like a dry pine limb
Watched the light in their eyes just fade to dim
And I’ve stood in the grass where the headstones grow
Talkin’ to the dirt ‘cause I still don’t know
Pre-Chorus
We’re all just skin and a handful of dust
Tryin’ to find a heart we can actually trust
Some of us scream, some of us pray
Some of us barely make it through the day
Chorus
I’m fightin’ silent wars behind my eyes
Patchin’ up the cracks in a cardboard disguise
Losing ground that nobody sees
Down on my luck and down on my knees
I hurt in ways that don’t have a name
Just a slow burn smoke with no way to tame
So I try to be the match that lights the night
’Cause a little bit of mercy can save a life tonight
Bridge
So I’ll hold the door, I’ll give up the seat
To the man lookin’ tired on worn-out feet
I ain’t bein’ kind just to feel alright
I’m payin’ back what kept me alive
Words can cut like a blade or heal like a hand
Depends on the heart behind where they land
So I try to speak like someone might need
A reason not to quit on everything
Final Chorus
I’m fightin’ silent wars behind my eyes
But maybe I’m done with the cardboard disguise
If I can pull one soul from the rain
Before it disappears in the pain
We’re all walkin’ wounded in the same damn fight
Tryin’ to find a little bit of light
So I’ll be the match that lights the night
’Cause a little bit of mercy can save a life tonight
Outro
Behind every heartbeat, a quiet storm
Behind every smile, somethin’ torn
But we’re less alone when we don’t look away…
And even the broken can find their way
Just keep on walkin’…
You’re gonna make it through the night
About “Silent Wars”
Some of the hardest battles in life are the ones no one else can see. I wrote Silent Wars for anyone who has ever smiled on the outside while quietly carrying fear, anxiety, regret, grief, or self-doubt on the inside.
It’s about the conversations we have with ourselves, the weight we carry in silence, and the strength it takes just to keep moving forward when no one realizes you’re fighting at all.
My hope is that this song reminds people they are not alone. Every person has silent wars of their own, and sometimes the bravest thing we can do is simply make it through another day.
If these lyrics help even one person feel understood, then writing this song was worth it.

About “Heaven Hears”
There are moments in life when our prayers seem to disappear into silence. We wonder if anyone is listening, if anyone understands, or if hope is slipping farther away.
I wrote Heaven Hears as a reminder that even when we can’t see the answer, our prayers are never ignored. Every whispered prayer, every tear, every cry for strength and every quiet moment of faith is heard.
My hope is that these lyrics bring comfort to anyone walking through uncertainty and encourage them to keep believing that God is listening, working, and present—even when the path ahead isn’t clear.
If these words strengthen someone’s faithor help them hold on a little longer, then this song has accomplished exactly what I hoped it would.

VERSE 1
The bells cut through at half past four. She leans her weight into that heavy oak door.
Dust in the air like it’s learned how to stay,In a room where the light don’t know how to pray.Candle wax melting into stone and thread,
Like something half-believed still living instead.
The stained glass fractures the floor into flame,
And she mouths every silence she can’t quite name.
PRE-CHORUS
The rafters don’t move, but they listen like they do,
Like every broken breath is something they once knew…
And still she whispers, “I’m not alone.”
CHORUS
‘Cause Heaven hears the broken,
The prayers too tired to stay spoken.
When the night stretches out like it forgot your name,
And even your heartbeat feels the same.
It’s not in the thunder, it’s not in the fire,
It’s in the breath that refuses to expire.
When nothing makes sense and nothing feels right,
There’s a quiet that finds you in the middle of the night.
Heaven hears…
Yeah, Heaven hears.
VERSE 2
These pews have memorized the weight of bent knees,
And the shape of goodbye in the dust of the seams.
She’s carried a life that never said please,
Just “hold what you can and don’t let it leave.”
He left her with silence and a half-closed door,
A borrowed kind of love that doesn’t love anymore.
Now she hums through the gaps where the voices once were,
Like sound is the only proof that something occurred.
PRE-CHORUS
And Sunday still comes like it doesn’t know why,
Like it’s watching her wait for a different reply…
She still believes—just not loudly enough.
BRIDGE
The stars don’t choose who gets to survive,
They just keep burning to prove they’re alive.
You don’t have to rise, you don’t have to break,
The sky keeps record of every mistake.
Even the silence is carrying sound,
Even the lost are learning they’re found.
FINAL CHORUS
‘Cause Heaven hears the broken,
Even when the hope has stopped showing.
When the night feels endless and hollow and wide,
And you’ve run out of reasons to fight.
It’s not in the thunder, it’s not in the flame,
It’s in the breath that still says your name.
And right when you think you’ve been left alone,
There’s a quiet that carries you home.
Heaven hears…
Yeah, Heaven hears.
OUTRO
In the wind through the trees…
In the space between your knees…
In the breath you didn’t think would stay…
Heaven hears.
Heaven hears.
